Designed By ME Consultancy Ltd. have recently moved to new premises and are now developing their new 150m2 workshop. 

​

As well as a purpose made office building Designed By ME Consultancy Ltd., lead by Mark Elwell, will soon be offering training courses to education providers, teachers and local industry in a well equipped workshop. the workshop training facility will house ALL the machines you would find in a school or college and others.

​

The training workshop is hopefully going to be open in the January of 2021.

Designed By ME Consultancy has produced a series of 3 year maintenance booklets that every department should have. Easy to complete and follow the booklets enable D.T. Departments to feel secure in the knowledge they have the correct records for each machine and all the information in one place.

​

the completion on a weekly basis is very simple and quick but has all the detail needed and also is linked to BS4163 and COSHH Regulations.

Each booklet is available at the very low price of just £4.80 plus one off postage fee.

The "Technical Support Series" of maintenance record books are now available in full. Presently they are available from the shop section of the website but if individual machines are not present please simply email and we will try to sort one out for you.

I would like to make you aware of the changes to WEL’s.

​

As of January 2020 the WEL’s (Work Exposure Limits) have been modified to the following levels:

• Softwood                                               5mg/m3/8hrs

• Hardwood                                              3mg/m3/8hrs

• Mixed Softwood and Hardwood                3mg/m3/8hrs

As a result of this it is essential that schools keep their LEV systems, tested, up to date and working effectively and therefore ensure that they are doing all they can to limit the effect of wood dust in the working environment and the users within. I would also recommend that all schools ensure that wood working portable power tools have online extraction fitted as standard, this can be a portable system or as part of the whole room system.

The Code of Practise of Design and Technology in Education and Similar Establishments - BS4163:2014 - is now under review.

Please do not mistake this for suspended or not in operation, the BS4163 version 2014 is and will be in operation and valid until the day it is superseded by the new version. the reviewing process will take a long period of time.

Mark is due to carry out training in Qatar for a series of schools in conjunction with Technology Supplies Ltd.

This is the first possibly many international visits with schools from Japan, China and Switzerland in negotiation presently for quality training from Designed By ME Consultancy Ltd.

The Design and Technology Association (D&TA) have appointed Mark Elwell as Lead Health and Safety Consultant and to advise the association on Health and Safety related issues. He is also now the lead consultant for the D&TA Accreditation Scheme.

Mark will not be stepping down from any part of his Designed By ME Consultancy work but does see this as an opportunity to further enhance the quality service which his clients receive.
